Last exam & trip to Pukyong-dae!

Now the semester is over! I wrote my last exam two days ago and many students have now started to go home. It is very empty in the dormitory now. I have in the first days of freedom played some football, made a trip to Busans highest mountain Geumjong mountain, my university PNU is located just beside this mountain (800 m high).

Luleå University of Technology is going to send 7-8 students to Busan on the next exchange some to PNU and some to the second university in Busan, Pukyongde Natinal University. Because of this I went to this university for some pictures ^_^

In two weeks I'll go to Seoul and stay there one week and after that I'll continue on to China.

Koreansk musik!

Tiaras song "Love Dovey" was the only song which I heared during my first two months in Korea!
The following two months this song have been playing, and is still being played everywhere. What do I mean with everywhere? It is a lot of mobile stores here, and to attract customers they play loud music, also other kinds of stores plays these songs.

This one is played in all coffeshops, it's also very popular!

21 one of the most popular popgroups in Korea, 21 visited Busan not so long time ago actually

Some lunch before our last class
The professor had a very intresting presentation about countries that are separated

And a final group photo with the whole class

Now I'm quite busy studying before the exams, I have had exams this week and I have some exams next week as well. My summervacation begins 21 of June and 22nd the semester officially ends. My last lesson in Korea was held on friday. My professor invited us for lunch in one restaurant in front of PNU campus, we ate some really tasty Seomgyeopsal! Actually one of the best that I've eaten in Korea!

I want to take the chance to link some popular Korean popsongs aka K-pop, some of them are really played everywhere!

The most popular popgroups are Tiara, 2NE1, and Busker Busker. Tiaras song "Love Dovey" was maybe the only song that I heared for the first two months in Korea!

Mat i Korea!

Sidedishes is very common here as you can see, it is small dishesh which is included to the main meal. They usually contain kimchi and dryed seaweed, the other ones vary from restaurant to restaurant, but some more standard servings are onion, cucumber, sallad, some mushrooms etc.

On this picture the main dish are shrimps, with black rice (in the metal container)
This is a traditional Korean soup, which can be found everywhere

These kind of gasplates are a common sight in Korea. Eating this with a company of around 6-8 people will cost around 5'000 W per person

This is my favourite, it is seafood(squids and shrimps) prepared just in front of you it is very delicious!
Some more seafood, this are restaurant serve seasnails, clams, squids and more straight from the sea.
I got surprised of the hardness of the seasnails, I thought they would be very soft but actually they were very hard to chew
The Hallabong, an orange made on Jeju-do, very tasty :-)
Our local foodlady, she prepares some veri nice toasts and she also serves some really nice meat! I eat here when I don't really have time...

Some Samgyeopsal, pork, duck, beef etc prepared by yourself directly on the table!
Chinese food, fried pórk drowned in sweet sauce to the right and some mussle soup to the left with noodles
Breakfast in the dormitory. I got so excited this morning when we got some really nice eggs (which are drowned in a type of saucesouce)

The foodladies in the dormitory are very nice, this is what I got served when I came late to the breakfast (usually they just say it's closed)
A thypical studentkitchen in a student dormitory, to the right is the water.
And of course some alcohol, this is the traditional Korean  drink Soju, everyone drinks it everywhere, and the price for this bottle in the store is around 1 Euro

Some Korean worms, this is a sidedish served in a Jilibang (Korean pub), actually they are quite tasty, and they keeps the skin look fresh ;-)

This is chicken with a egg and rice... Or no... This is was supposed to be chicken with egg, I ordered "chicken!" and i got this, no chicken.... -___-

Now three months have passed since I came to Korean and it is two weeks left of my studies. The semester in Sweden have already finished, but my last exam is in the middle of June. I will stay some while in Korea though after the semester

Jeju Island one of the 7 natural wonders of the world

The statue is a symbol of Jeju island and can be seen everywhere! On every bridge, signs, benches etc etc The name of it is Dol hareubang
Location of Jeju island, I've pointed out the places which we visited

Day 1

After arriving to the airport in Jeju city we immediately went with bus to the southern part of the island, close to the city Seogwipo.

Hallasan mountain is surrounded by many national parks,. This is one park with amazing views and many waterfalls. It almost felt to be in the djungle when walking through this woods.
One very high bridge in the middle of the park
 The view from the bridge
We used these kind of pathways in the woods

Day 2

Second day on Jeju we spent looking on some nice scenery

We spent the night very close to the Jeju World cup stadium, which hosted three games during the world cup 2002: Brazil vs China, Slovenia vs Paraguay and Germany vs Paraguay

It can take almost 35 thousand people
Hallabong orange, which is a Jeju fruit. It can be found throughout the island
Odoelgae Rock, it is also the scene for some Korean movies

On Odoelgae Rock

Observe the fishers which fish along the waterline, they risks their lifes just to get some awesome Jeju fish

Briefly: During the Korean war North Korea wanted to deploy a spy along the shore not so far from Odoelgae Rock, however they were stopped by the South Koreans

Some nasty turns along the way

Saeyeon bridge, it is the longest footbridge in Korea. The bridge was modeled on Jeju's traditional fishingboat, the tewoo.
Another beautiful park, located not so far from Seogwipo.

 Me and some Jeju statues

One very beautiful place
The meal of the day ^^
 Traditional Jeju cake
Some canoeing, we arrived to late so it meant no canoeing for us...

Well we couldn't do any canoeing so I went for a swim instead! It was quite cold though and not so many people swimming :-P

Day 3

When it turned dark we left Seogwipo and headed for the western part of the island, where some of the most beautiful parks were located
Sunrise peak, maybe the most beautiful place on Jeju
This is an aerial view on the Sunrise Peak, the arrow points out the viewing point where we hiked

The road up to the top

Diving women!
We ate some snails and some shrimps

Trip to the small island called Udo

Not far from the Sunrise peak park is the small island called Udo. Udo is different from Jeju because of the volcanic eruption which created Udo separately from Jeju.
 The local ferry
The harbour had a lot of fishing boats, it was a lot of seafood everywhere on Jeju
The island of Udo, it is called the cow island, because it looks like a cow ;-)

The roads on Udo are ideal for bikes

On the ferry back from Udo

Day 4

This day was just the day of departure

The four first summerdays were spent on the South Korean paradise island Jeju island, which is the southernmost part of Korea.

Jeju island is an volcano island, its tropcial climate have always attracted newlyweds. The mountain (Hallasan mountain) is also the highest mountain in South Korea (1995m (it is not higher than Baekdu mountain though which lies in North Korea)). The volcano has given Jeju its uniqe climate which is very different from the main land, palms, orangethrees, (Jeju also have their own orange, named Hallabong, which you have to try if you visit Jeju)

To go from Busan to Jeju was very comfortable and cheap. Straight flights departure daily.
