Utlandsstudier i Deutschland! (tidigare Sydkorea): The Beauty of northern Scandinavia

I had my last exam on 31th, the following day me and some friends went to the archipelago of northen Norway called Lofoten.

Lofoten is a group of islands located northwest in Norway. Generally the northern parts of Norway is very mountainous, Lofoten as well. The big amount of islands together with the mountains makes Lofoten an unique and beautiful place.

It is also located above the polar circle, and almost on the same parallell as Kiruna (a city in northern Sweden). But the main difference between Kiruna and Lofoten is the amount of snow and ice (I have putted a picture for you to see how snowy it is in Kiruna). You will notice in my pics that the waters are not icy in Lofoten even though it is located very high above the polar circle. Thats because of the gulf stream, it brings warm waters from central america all the way to northern Norway and beyond.

It took around 15 hours with car from Luleå. We lived on the very tip of Lofoten on a small small island, very beautiful place.

The smallest fjord in Norway. Fjord is a narrow inlet surrounded by hills carved by glaciers and usually filled with water.

A storm hit our small island, we got quite wet and also got to taste the salty water because the water was flying everywhere!

The wooden structures on the island is for drying the fish, it was quite rainy when we were there so we didn't see it so much, but it was for the best. It didn't smell so much fish when we were there just a little ;-)
