Our first school related trip was to the great Ahr Valley... More famous for its natural beauty and its wine plantages, which was the main reason for our trip... The Ahr Valley produces a relatively small amount of Germanys total wine, around 0.5%, nevertheless the wine produced in this area is regarded high quality. The famous Riesling grape is grown here.
The valley is situated in active volcanic landscape, with the last erruption taking place 10'000 years ago. However this makes this area even more uniqe and beautiful and it is well worth a visit.
Not ready yet, the grapes wont be ready until autumn.
Most of the wine is consumed locally... I guess thursty people is not main issue in this village...
It was a superhot day!
Strolling through the small village.
Having our lunch at the local restaurant
Our own guide and whine specialist Jörg.
Happy people
