Studyblog 2.0

Believe it or not but the blog will start produce articles again... This after the decision to go to Germany for german studies and an internship.

A short summary for people whos interested. After finishing my bachelors degree in Technical Physics in Luleå Technical University (Spring 2013) I moved south to the Swedish town Linköping. There I started on the Masters program in Aeronautical Engineering (Autumn 2013). Now I am on the final year and writing my thesis. Earlier in the spring I got to know that I got accepted for german studies and an internship in the German company DLR (Deutsche Luft- und Raumfarth), an aerospace company which builds jet engines and rockets. The german studies and internship is made possible through the International School in Düsseldorf (IS Düsseldorf).

The whole program begins with a 7 weeks intensive studies of german in Düsseldorf. In September my internship begins and will continue for 4 months until the end of the year.

Düsseldorf is a town with 600.000 people, located along the great river Rhein and lies in the centre of a Germanies largest metropolitan area (5th in Europe), called the "Ruhr Valley", with 12 million people*.

Above you can see the Ruhr Valley and its placement in Germany. All the larger cities are marked out. To travel between all cities does not take more than 1 hour.

I live in the east parts of Düsseldorf (15 min to the centre) in a small house, where I have my own room. Below is some photos from the house and the school.
My house is behind the bushes so actualy not to much to see on this pic.

* Correction: Düsseldorf lies at the borderland between Rhineland and the Ruhr Valley. However sometimes it is reffered to as "the desktop of the Ruhr Valley" due to the large amount of company offices placed in Düsseldorf. Below is a map of the occupied Rhineland which resulted after the Versaille threaty 1918. Düsseldorf as well as large parts of the Ruhr Valley is included in the occupation.
